In industrial design, Planned obsolescence also known as Built-in obsolescence is defined as a policy that is undertaken to plan or design a product that comes with a limited life span; afterwards, it goes obsolete and no longer functional after a certain period of time. This strategy is motivated to generate long-term sales volume, encourages consumer to buy multiple times rather than only once.
