Here is Alvaracht III, a 126 ft Dutch barge, She is currently laid out as 3 apartments over 2000 sq feet of space – 2 x three bedrooms and 1 x two bedrooms (5 bedrooms in total). She is set up as a static mooring and has had her engine removed.
She is on a secure mooring in Cuxton, near Rochester on the River Medway (ME2 post code). Easy access to historic Rochester and Strood, both with fast rail lines to central London. Access to the M2 is about 5 minutes drive.
The mooring is beautiful and private surrounded by acres of protected woodland. Access is via a discreet, roadworthy track through the woodlands from the main road. There is a secure coded gate – you will not get any visitors unless you invite them! On the other side of the river are lush Kent farmlands. Birds, ducks and wildlife are abound.
There are around 10 other boats on the mooring – it is near capacity so there will not be many if any more. The mooring is leased at a reasonable monthly rate and includes access to fresh water onsite. There are fresh water tanks on-board. She is equipped with a new diesel generator but would benefit from a solar power unit.
She is a project and needs a bit of TLC, hence the project. She was lived in on the Thames until a few years ago but has been standing for the last three years. The hull appears to be sound for a static boat with no obvious leaks. We have stripped her out and dried her out but she should be seen as a blank canvass to create a wonderful project in this stunning location. Either refit in the current configuration or as some have suggested, create a huge open plan space.
